महारानी एलिज़ाबेथ II १९८६ में ट्रूपिंग द कलर समारोह के दौरान बर्मीज़ की सवारी करती हुईं।


बर्मीज़ (1962–1990), एक काले रंग का आरसीएमपी पोलिस सेवा की घोड़ी थी जिसे रोयल कनाडियन माउन्टेड पुलिस ने महारानी एलिज़ाबेथ को उपहार स्वरूप दिया था। महारानी को यह घोड़ी बहुत प्रिय थी और उन्होंने १९६९ से १९८६ तक लगातार १८ वर्षों तक ट्रूपिंग द कलर समारोहों में इसकी सवारी की।

शाही सेवा




1982 में विंडसर में रोनाल्ड रीगन से भेंट वार्ता के दौरान रानी बर्मीज़ पर सवार[1] Centenial for the occasion[2]


बर्मीज़ का जन्म रोयल कनाडियन माउन्टेड पुलिस के वाल्श किला, सैस्कैचेवन में स्थित पशु फॉर्म में हुआ था। उसे ओटावा में प्रशिक्षित किया गया व १९६९ में महारानी को तब भेंट किया गया जब पुलिस बल के जवान यूके में आयोजित रोयल विंडसर हॉर्स शो प्रतियोगिता में भाग लेने आये थे।[3]


महारानी बर्मीज की ही सवारी कर रहीं थीं जब मार्कस सार्जेंट ने १९८१ में उनके जन्मदिवस परेड में ट्रूपिंग द कलर समारोह में जाते हुए उनपर ६ गोलियाँ चलायी थीं। [4] घोड़ी गोलियों के चलने से उग्र हो गयी लेकिन महारानी ने उसे संभाल लिया था।


बर्मीज़ अंतिम बार जनता के सामने १९८६ के ट्रूपिंग द कलर समारोह के दौरान सामने आई और उसके बाद वो रिटायर हो गयी। उसके जगह फिर किसी और घोड़े ने नहीं ली क्योंकि रानी उसके बाद किसी नए जंगी घोड़े को प्रशिक्षण देने की बजाए खुले एक्के में चलते हुए दूर मचान से परेड की निगरानी करती थीं। [5]

बर्मीज़ को विंडसर किले के चारागाह में १९९० तक रखा गया जब उसकी मृत्यु हो गयी। रानी ने सैस्कैचेवन, रीगन, कनाडा में बर्मीज़ पर सवारी करते हुए बनाई गयी अपनी एक काँसे की मूर्ति का २००५ में अनावरण किया।[6]


बर्मीज़ और महारानी को भेंट किए गये एक अन्य घोड़े सेंटेनियल को आरसीएमपी के कार्यकर्ता सर्जेंट फ्रेड रासमुसेन ने प्रशिक्षित किया था।



बर्मीज़ का नामकरण


आर सी एम पी के एक प्रवक्ता के अनुसार बर्मीज़ नाम आधुनिक बर्मा वासियों के नाम पर है। बर्मा वासियों को अंग्रेजी में बर्मीज़ कहते हैं। हालाँकि ऐसा नाम दिए जाने के पीछे के कारण का जिक्र नहीं किया गया है।
