I did not change anything, and suddenly, when typing my password into the terminal during "sudo" commands, my password length is shown in asterisks as i type.



Is this a feature of a new mint cinnamon update, (a desktop update came right before that for cinnamon desktop) or what is going on here?
An hour before that, my PC couldn't be shut down, since an "unknown program" was running in the background. Could this also be the culprit?
