भारतीय मिठा जल मछलियां

जैवविविधता के संबंध में भारत दुनिया का एक महत्वपुर्ण राष्ट्र है। कुल जैवविविधता के अनुपात में भारत की मछलिया २० प्रतिषत है। फ्रांसीस डे (१८७८) ने अपनी किताब में भारत की १४१८ मछलियोंके प्रजाती यों का जिक्र किया है। इसके पच्शात जयराम (१९८१) ने ७४२ मछलियों के प्रजातीयों का जिक्र अपनी किताब में किया है। तथा तलवार तथा झिंगरन ने ९३० प्रजातीयोंका जिक्र अपनी पुस्तक में किया है।
