यशवंत नारायण सुकथनकर (१८९७ – ?) भारतीय प्रशासनिक सेवा अधिकारी थे। वे भारत के कैबिनेट सचिव[2] और ओडिशा के राज्यपाल भी रहे।[3]
जीवन
सुकथनकर एम॰ए॰, विधि स्नातक थे।[3]द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध के दौरान, युद्ध में भाग लेने के लिए भारत को सक्षम करने के लिए विभिन्न आर्थिक और प्रशासनिक सुधार हुए। तब केंद्र में कई महत्वपूर्ण आर्थिक, वाणिज्यिक, औद्योगिक और आपूर्ति संबंधी क्षमता रखने वाले व्यक्तियों का एक अलग वित्त और वाणिज्य संघ बनाया गया। सुकथनकर इस में शामील थे और व्यापार विशेषज्ञ थे।[4]
सुकथनकर १४ मई १९५३ से ३१ जुलाई १९५७ तक भारत के द्वितीय कैबिनेट सचिव रहे। उसके तुरंत बाद ३१ जुलाई १९५७ से १५ सितंबर १९६२ तक उन्होने ओडिशा के राज्यपाल का कार्य सम्भाला। इसी दौरान १९६० में ओडिशा का कटक का राजभवन, लाल बाग महल, को कटक से भुवनेश्वर स्थानांतरित कर दिया गया और भारतीय रेड क्रॉस सोसाइटी को लाल बाग महल की इमारत को बच्चों के अस्पताल के रूप में उपयोग करने के लिए दान कर दी गई।[5] राज्य में आपातकाल के दौरान २५ फ़रवरी १९६१ से २३ जून १९६१ तक उन्होंने किसी भी सलाहकार के बिना राज्य प्रशासन का संचालन किया।[1]
