I have an old Mac Mini Server late 2007, which is now running Ubuntu Bionic. But I also found an EyeTV Hybrid, which I previously used to play my PS1 games via my Mac's display, so that I would be able to use Discord meanwhile without a big hassle. However, the game is done, and now the Stick has kinda lost it's purpose. So I thought I'd transform my Linux box and this stick into a method of capturing TV programs and having them "on demand" in my local network.

Are there solutions for that, where you use a TV tuner stick (DVB-C) with a Linux box to replicate modern "media set-top boxes" like those by Sky and friends, with which I can record TV programs and watch at a different time?

My first thought was to utilize a Kodi-based distribution and just access that server whenever I'd like to watch something through the network...
