History
Established in 2014, initially 30 students enrolled in the first year of UCG.[3] The college found a faculty building in the former huishoudschool (household school) at the Hoendiepskade. The number of applying students gradually grew the following years. In 2017, the number of first year students increased to 115.[3] The first class of students graduated in 2017.
Education
Tuition fee is relatively high for Dutch standards, as the bachelor costs double of a regular bachelor's degree. Admission standards are high as well, as solid grades in high school are required to be accepted.[4][5]
All classes at the college are taught in English.[4] In its three years bachelor's degree programme, called Liberal Arts and Sciences, student can choose from a broad array of courses from different disciplines. Students can choose to major in Social Sciences, Humanities, Sciences or a Free Major. Along with these, students follow courses based on project-based learning. Courses are taught by UCG staff, as well as professors from other faculties of the University of Groningen.
Student life
The college has a high number of international students, as more than half of the students is from outside the Netherlands.[6] The biggest student association at the college is Caerus Student Association, which has several committees."Home".
